OK Mark, I can do that and have done it with the first one and made note of the numbers. Now have some questions on this step.
I noticed you left a larger space on the right, am I suppose to do that or do I match the white box with the outlines???? I noticed my pen is not centered in the white background box but if I close up all lines it will center it but it then makes the pen look skinnier or crunches it. What would be the correct look.???
Those pictures you are putting up are a big help and making it easier to understand. Hopefully we are getting close. I think when this is all said and done you should file this away as a tutorial and it might help another newbie. I will be on till 12:00 so whatever you choose to do. _________________ John T. |

Hi John,
In all your pictures .... is the pen exactly in the center?
What we will do after we size them all the same size is center all the pictures the same. Then we'll move on to the next steps after that.
:o)
dog
P.S. I had the same thought about finally putting it all together as a tutorial. thanks for the reminder! _________________ moondog

For resizing all the rest .... after you hit CTRL+T you go to the same spots where those numbers were that I told you to note and put the same number in both and hit the enter or checkmark and then move the picture around a bit to get it close to centered.
after that we'll do the next phase. _________________ moondog

OK Mark I am with you right up to your last step and everything loads as you say. putting in the numbers works quicker. I like that.
Yes all my pens are centered in the photos. They are all in the same position because when I took them the camera was on a tripod and I did not move it. I just spun the turntable. Evidently the pen may not have been standing as straight as I thought but I am guessing we can fix that too.
You can post the next step and when I get back on tomorrow I can try it out. Have to go to sleep now. Need to go to work 5:30am _________________ John T. |

When you get back on. I tried what you said about putting the same numbers in the spaces you mentioned the phot does not shrink to the size of the first one. I centered in the box and typed the same numbers in but the picture is larger. What now. I would try things but do not know what to try. So here I am. _________________ John T. |

John,
well, that's weird .... all pictures should be the same size when you took them unless you have changed them.
so by rights when you shrink them, they should all be the same size if the numbers are right.
could you possibly e-mail them to me so that I can look at them? moondog830@hughes.net

I feel like an idiot. I went back to look at the size of the photos and sure enough my first photo was smaller than all the rest because I was using the set I started to resize in a different program before you said I can do it in photoshop. I now pasted the originals and sure enough I can get them to look all alike. The only thing I noticed is when I put the same numbers in the blanks the box where you had to shrink with the arrows is not the same size. I had to shrink it a little bit to match the original. Putting in the numbers gets me close but no exact. I do not know why. I will list the size of my photos. They are all relatively the same but not exact.
#1--1.70MB
#2--1.70MB
#3--1.72MB
#4--1.71MB
#5--1.71MB
#6--1.66MB
#7--1.74MB
#8--1.73MB
These are in the original state off the camera. Like I said all are centered because I used a tripod and did not move it. All are about the same quality as far as lighting goes for I was using the flash. If you still want them I can probably put a link here or I can send them to you. These are just a sample pen to learn the workings of photoshop. Thanks and whenever you get a chance to respond is good. I check this site everyday. _________________ John T. |

Today and yesterday have been long days trying to fix a car so I don't have to run my wife to work and kid to school each day :o(
I'm hoping to get a chance to finish it out tomorrow or at the very latest, by the end of this weekend.
sorry, JUST got on to look around and don't have much time to work at the moment.l _________________ moondog

Hi John,
Okay, now for the next phase. The first thing we want to do is make sure that each pen picture is centered on its layer. To do this we need to put ‘guide lines’ in the file.
Step 1: Make sure that you have the background layer selected as in this image
Step 2: Move your cursor into the ruler area on the edge as indicated by the red arrows in this image
Step 3: Left click , hold the button down and drag to the center of the image (you should see it SNAP into the center place once you get close) Do this once from the side and once from the top and then your image should look like this image
Step 4: On each layer using the Move Tool (V) center the pen on the crossed guides.
Let me know when you have this done. I am sick with a cold (that’s why I get for changing a battery in 0 degree weather) but will try to keep working on this. I really want you to get this done.
